Standard edition, being one of 150 numbered copies thus (of a total edition of 212). *White's journal, as well as giving his account of the First Fleet voyage, was the first major natural history book on Australia. The Surgeon-General to the new settlement, John White was also a keen amateur naturalist, and the plates in this volume (here reproduced in colour for the first time since the deluxe, hand-coloured issue of the first edition of 1790), include numerous birds, mammals, reptiles, fish, plants, and 2 plates depicting aboriginal weapons and artefacts.
