TROUBLES. J. G. Farrell.

Pp. 446; dust wrapper, slightly foxed, edges a trifle rubbed, the backstrip faded; endpapers lightly offset, edges of leaves foxed; Jonathan Cape, London, 1983. Reissued. *Originally published in 1970. Winner of the Lost Man Booker Prize, a one-off award chosen among books published in 1970 which had not been considered for the Man Booker Prize at the time. (In 1971 the Booker Prize ceased to be awarded retrospectively and became a prize for the best novel of the year of publication. At the same time the award moved from April to November, with the result that much of the fiction published in that year was not considered for the prize. To rectify this, in 2008, a panel of three judges - all of whom were born in or around 1970 - selected a shortlist of six novels from that year, from which Troubleswas then chosen as the winner). .
