First edition. *The author, who went on to become Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, first met Sir Douglas Haig in January 1916. When the Commander-in Chief removed his Headquarters to Montreuil, he requested that Duncan, then a junior army chaplain, should go with him. Their association continued until the end of the war, and their friendship lasted until Haig's death in 1928. Item #133064
