W. Bain, with the usual minor variations in hue, spines lettered in gilt between raised bands, boards with double gilt ruled border and tiny corner ornaments; uncut, top edges red beneath gilt on the rough; bookplate of Edward Wheewall Holden on upper pastedown Volumes I to III, bookseller's sticker on upper pastedown Volumes III & IV, a few leaves faintly creased in Volume II, outer leaves slightly browned at edges; The Nonesuch Press, London, 1929-1933. Edition limited to 1,600 numbered sets. McKitterick 58. *Sir Edward Wheewall Holden (1885-1947) took his family carriage and saddlery business, Holden & Frost, into a partnership with General Motors to form Australia's first automobile manufacturer. Holden was influential in the company's expansion into motor-body building, and its use of highly automated mass production technology. He was also the foundation director and first chairman of the South Australian Industries Assistance Corporation, and served in the South Australian Legislative Council from 1935-47. Item #135599
