The Essex House Press was founded in 1898 by Charles Ashbee, whose Guild of Handicraft had purchased much of the equipment of the Kelmscott Press after the death of William Morris. The letter was previously published in the Shelleys' History of a Six Weeks' Tour through a part of France, Switzerland, Germany, and Holland ... (much of which was written by Mary Shelley). The letter was written by Shelley from the Hotel de Londres, Chamounix, to his close friend and fellow poet Thomas Love Peacock (1785 - 1866). Item #136312
