Arnold 42; Chaplin p. 68. *One of the earliest books illustrated by Edward Bawden. Ausonius was a fourth century poet, and Prefect of Gaul, Libya and Italy. Irish born neurologist Robert Foster Kennedy (1884\endash 1952) was one of the first doctors to recognise and define shell shock in the First World War. A fter the war he worked in the Bellevue Hospital in New York , was professor of neurology at Cornell University and in 1940 was elected president of the American Neurological Association.
