First edition. *From the library of Sydney bibliophile David Levine, with his Militaria book label on upper pastedown. Bodell enlisted in the army in 1847, and was sent first to Ireland and then to Hong Kong. He bought himself out of the army and went to Van Diemen's Land, where he kept a hotel, then moved in 1856 to Victoria. In 1863 he volunteered to serve in New Zealand in the Maori wars. Item #146564
