Item #146952 SCULPTOR'S DAUGHTER. Tove Jansson.

SCULPTOR'S DAUGHTER.

Translated by Kingsley Hart. Pp. 176(last colophon); qr. grey cloth, spine lettered in gilt, salmon papered boards, top edges slightly grazed; top edges orange; price-clipped dust wrapper, a trifle scuffed, edges lightly rubbed and spit, backstrip faded; bookseller's sticker at foot of upper free endpaper, a couple of tiny spots of foxing; Ernest Benn Limited, London, 1969. First U.K. edition. *Jansson's autobiographical vignettes of her childhood. With an unused Tove Jansson Christmas card loosely inserted, featuring a coloured illustration she contributed to UNICEF in 1971. Titled Wonder of Christmas, this was the first of two cards Jansson did for UNICEF. The picture is based on an illustration from Tales from Moominvalley. The card was reprinted in 1995, but this copy has been kept with the book for many years, and is almost certainly the original. (Shortly before she died, UNICEF requested Jansson's permission to reprint the other card, March for Peace. She was reportedly delighted, saying that it meant she still could do something for children, although by then she was unable to paint any more. Tove Jansson died in 2001). Item #146952
