Fourth impression. White p. 121; Sutcliffe 1/p. 394. *First published 1916. With loosely inserted autograph letter from the author, dated 15th Augt., 1926, addressed to a Gordon Highlander (A. R. C. Cross), offering to send a copy of the latest edition of 'the little book [which] is out of print' if he can find one. Thomson comments about his service, suggesting that the only time they 'could have come across each other was in July 1916, when the two Regular Battns. bivouacked together on the moor at Carnoy, just before both went into action on the Somme front at Mamitz [sic] [Mametz] and Delville Wood. . . .'.
