With a typed letter, signed, from the author, addressed to Brigadier Bernard Fergusson, DSO, dated 17th. February 1962, thanking him for writing the foreword 'to "Safer Than a Known Way". which I "ghosted" for Ian MacHorton. . . .' and asking that he accept 'my latest book, "Spearhead General", with my very best wishes for a happy and memorable (as I am sure it will be) sojourn in New Zealand. . . .' The author also mentions enclosing a copy of the Times Literary Supplement review of his book [extant] and comments on receiving reviews from various newspapers. Brigadier Bernard Fergusson, Baron Ballantrae (1911-1980) was a British Army officer, military historian and the last British-born Governor-General of New Zealand. Item #153424
