Waterhouse, Bradford) on lower pastedown, the upper free endpaper slightly soiled, upper hinge cracking, a few leaves faintly creased, edges of leaves a trifle foxed; W. Pamplin, London, 1862. First edition. *Early work by Louis Compton Miall (1842-1921), who became Professor of Biology at the University of Leeds. In 1892 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society, and from 1904 to 1906 he was Fullerian Professor of Physiology at the Royal Institution. Benjamin Carrington (1827-1893) was a specialist in bryophytes, cryptogams, fungi and lichens. He was a Fellow of the Linnean Society and the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Item #167082
