Cadell, London, 1792. Second edition. *Scottish author Quintin Craufurd (1743-1819) served for several years with the East India Company, and amassed a considerable fortune. In 1780, he returned to Europe and settled in Paris, where he became a notable collector of books and art. Craufurd was closely associated with the French court, particularly Marie Antoinette. As well as his book on India, he wrote several books in English and French, including a history of the Bastille. Item #107765
