[x]+viii +68(printed in blue, yellow/brown & black with occasional other single colours, last blank), hand-tipped coloured frontispiece (numbered and signed by Mike Hudson), text illustrations (mostly black & white, plus 1 coloured folding), 4 large coloured decorative initials, coloured typographic endpapers; f'cap. folio; dark green cloth with printed paper labels (title and publisher's device) inlaid on upper board; within olive green card slipcase; The Wayzgoose Press, Katoomba, NSW, 2001. Edition limited to 15 numbered copies, signed by the publishers; this being number 4 of 12 copies thus bound. *First published as a series of 4 monographs (plus Introduction) during 2000 and early 2001. Monograph 5 (Evolution), traces the evolution of books from papyrus rolls to the early Renaissance. No. 6. (Revolution) examines the progressive decline of book production, and No. 7 (Regulation) 'discussed the drive for rationalisation of techniques at the expense of the creative potential of authorship' [Jarvis, The Wayzgoose Affair p. 150]. No. 8 (Re-Evaluation) 'weighed the benefits to text and reader of an individual and creative approach to book design, typography and illustrations against the losses inflicted by mass production principles' [The Wayzgoose Affair, p. 152].
