PRINTING BY HAND AIN'T NO PICNIC.

PRINTING BY HAND AIN'T NO PICNIC.

Broadside, printed in red and black on Ghost Gum, with a wood cut by Mike Hudson; 59 cm. x 25 cm; folded twice; The Wayzgoose Press, Katoomba, NSW, 1998. Limitation not stated. *Jadwiga Jarvis, in The Wayzgoose Affair (2007), writes: 'PRINTING BY HAND AIN'T NO PICNIC was a humorous and fairly accurate explanation of the origin and meaning of the word "wayzgoose" (a printers annual picnic) accompanied by a woodcut depicting Mike and I sharing a bottle of wine over a type case balanced on the back of a recumbent kangaroo. The title, set in three lines of wood type, progressively deteriorated in quality, putting flesh on the sentiment it expressed. ...'. A smaller version was produced for inclusion in Matrix 19 (Broadside No. 19, 1999). In this first version the title is not underlined, the line markings at top and bottom of text are one wavey and one solid line, Mike is holding a font speared on a fork and Jadwiga is holding a knife, and there are two wine glasses on the type case.
