Joseph Bosisto was a chemist who pioneered the distilling from gum leaves of eucalyptus oil - the first 100% Australian export product. He settled in South Australia in the 1840s, moved to Victoria during the Gold Rush, and later became the Mayor of Richmond and an active organiser of the Victorian Exhibitions.
