[6], plus 9 lithographic plates each with a page of descriptive text; impl. folio; cloth backed printed papered boards, worn, slightly foxed and soiled, light fracture to bottom fore-corner of upper board; hinges starting, small inked annotations on upper pastedown, the upper free endpaper slightly creased, early inked ownership inscription at head of title page, a few small edge splits, a couple of marginal damp stains, scattered foxing and soiling; printed by Richard Taylor, London, 1834. First edition. Wellcome III p. 152. *The plates are by Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins (1807-1894), who also contributed illustrations to The Zoology of the Voyage of HMS Beagle. The plates show 'diseased structure, and diseases which come most under the eye of the Military Medical Officer' [Preface]. The museum's first fasciculus of anatomical drawings was published in 1824; a third followed in 1838, and a fourth in 1841. Item #151375
