First edition. *William Cooper was the pseudonym of Harry Summerfield Hoff (1910-2002). He published four novels under his own name, before adopting the pseudonym for his popular series of semi-autobiographical novels. Scenes From Metropolitan Life was written and set chronologically between the first and second novels in the series but remained unpublished for several years for legal reasons.
