[vi]+272(last blank)+[vi]+[273]-434+[2](errata, blank); demy 8vo; qr. black leather, spine lettered and ruled in brown, black cloth boards, a trifle scuffed, the leather quite faded and rubbed; hinges starting, piece torn from top edge of preliminary blank, early inked inscription (dated 1868) at head of title page, a little light foxing and soiling; S. F. 3369; Serle, p. 32; Miller & Macartney, p. 91. *'The third volume of verse published in Tasmania and the first volume of plays in verse published in Australia' [Ferguson]. Burn (1798-1875) arrived in Tasmania in 1826. In 1845, he moved to Sydney, and in 1847 he migrated to New Zealand. According to the Australian Dictionary of Biography, he also wrote 'the first Australian drama to be performed on the stage: The Bushrangers, a three-act play which has remained unpublished except for the epilogue.... It was performed at the Caledonian Theatre, Edinburgh, on 8 and 10 September 1829'. Item #163582
