First U.K. edition. *The frontispiece and four of the plates are by W. E. Johns. Covington Clarke was the pseudonym under which American Lawyer Homer Clarke Venable (1891-1953) wrote flying adventures for boys. Under his own name he also wrote adult fiction. Item #172971
