dated 26 April /09, on 52 Portland Place letterhead, being a slightly delayed response to a request to use material from the former's book, Nelson and his Times (published in 1898) in the latter's forthcoming volume about his great-uncle, The Nelson Whom Britons Love. Beresford gives his permission as author, but notes that rights to the book might have been sold. 'Certainly, use anything that may appear in "Nelson & His Times" as far as my permission goes, when bringing out your book "The Nelson whom Britons love". I believe the book and all rights concerning it was bought some time ago by some firm . . .'
