dated 27th May 1826, appointing him to be 'Captain of His Majesty's Yacht the "William & Mary" . . .', signed by Sir John Barrow and two others [undeciphered], with paper seal and revenue stamp, [Admiralty Office, London]; one side, on vellum, oblong folio (27.5 cm. x 31.5 cm., with folds). *Sir John Barrow, 1st Baronet (1764\endash 1848) was an English geographer, linguist, writer and civil servant. He served as the Second Secretary to the Admiralty from 1804 until 1845. Vice-Admiral Sir John Chambers White, KCB (c.1770- 1845) , British Royal Navy officer who participated in a number of engagements during the Napoleonic Wars. Item #179359
