First edition. *William Fox (1812-1893) emigrated to New Zealand in 1842. By 1855, he was premier of the Colony, an office he held four times. 'Fox was associated with, though he did not initiate, what is widely regarded as the most iniquitous act of a New Zealand government. In The War in New Zealand, while still criticising the Waitara purchase, Fox blamed the new war on the M a ori and defended the confiscations' [Dictionary of New Zealand Biography]. Item #180043
