First edition. Gaskell 43. *One of Baskerville's celebrated series of Latin classics. Another smaller (12mo) edition was published in 1773. John Baskerville (1706-1775), who began his career as a writing master in Birmingham, became a printer and typographer whose works are considered amongst the finest examples of the art of printing.
