Aldington's semi-autobiographical first novel, originally published in 1929 by Chatto & Windus in the U.K. and Covici Friede in the USA. Both, particularly the U.K. edition, were sanitized due to obscenity laws at the time. Henri Babou and Jack Kahane co- published in Paris several books considered unprintable in England and America.
