Previously from the library of British bookseller John Saumarez Smith, whose signature (dated 2005) is on the upper free endpaper of the first volume. Loosely inserted in Volume I is a brief ALs to Saumarez Smith from Ronald Searle (also dated 2005), referring to sending him these volumes, which are a catalogue for an exhibition at the Wilhelm Busch Museum. The Searles' library of works on the history and theory of caricature was acquired by the Museum along with a number of drawings by Ronald Searle and necklaces designed by Monica Searle. Item #183032
