First edition. *Katherine Thomson (1797-1862) was the author of several novels and historical biographies. She also wrote under the pseudonym Grace Wharton. Kimbolton Castle was the last residence of Katherine of Aragon, the first wife of Henry VIII, until her death in 1536. From 1615 until 1950 it was the family seat of the Montagu family. Alexander Montagu, 10th Duke of Manchester, sold the contents in the late 1940s. Item #184288
