Edition limited to 500 numbered copies, signed by the artist. *From its foundation in 1924, The Horn Book magazine retained a similar cover design for over sixty years, until in 1985 a decision was taken to invite a guest artist to provide a new cover design each year. These cover designs were also issued as a limited edition poster for the magazine. This is copy number 116. Maurice Sendak was the first artist chosen, and his design appeared on the last issue of 1985 (November/December) and the next 5 issues of the bi-monthly publication. He was followed by William Steig (November/December 1986 to September/October 1987) and then Arnold Lobel, shortly before the latter's death in December 1987. Item #185084
