Melbourne in July

If you are curious about old books and what makes them collectable, if maps and printed ephemera attract you, then Melbourne in July is your destination. From 18-27 July Melbourne Rare Book Week will celebrate the history, the challenge and the fun of collecting and learning about old, rare and unusual books, ephemeral items that capture the spirit of a time, maps that reflect the adventure and perils of early travel and prints and images that illustrate the story of mankind.

This is the tenth anniversary of the inaugural Melbourne Rare Book Week held in July 2012. In that first year ten partners held 18 events; this year 30 partners will present 45 events, culminating in ANZAAB’s Melbourne Rare Book Fair —and, as in 2012, admission to all events continues to be free.

The Melbourne Rare Book Fair will be held in the University of Melbourne's historic Wilson Hall 25 to 27 July, with 27 rare book dealers from Australia, Japan, the U.S.A. and the U.K. offering millions of dollars’ worth of rare, interesting and unusual books, manuscripts and ephemera from the 15th to the 21st centuries.
